How do use A11yNow MCP

A11yNow MCP provides tools for scanning websites, identifying accessibility issues, checking WCAG guidelines, generating reports, providing accessibility guidance, suggesting fixes and comparing accessibility scans.

The following are common prompts and workflows you can use.

  1. Scan a Webpage

    Example Prompt: I want to scan the homepage of example.com The scan identifies accessibility issues and provides information such as:

  • Passed and failed checks
  • Issue severity
  • Affected elements and selectors
  • Violated accessibility rules
  • WCAG Success Criteria
  • Validation items
  1. Scan an Entire Website

    Example Prompt: Scan the entire website xyz.com It will consider only the homepage of the website and provide information.

  2. Scan a Specific List of URLs

    Example Prompt: I want you to scan the URL https://xyz.com/about

  3. Understand Scan Results

    A scan might return the results such as:

    • 120 Passed
    • 5 Failed
    • 23 Validate

To understand the failures, you can ask:

Example Prompt: I want you to give me all the failed accessibility issues. The scan identifies accessibility issues and provides information such as:

  • Severity
  • WCAG Success Criteria
  • Description of the issue
  1. Generate a Detailed Accessibility Report After a scan, you can request a detailed accessibility report.

Example Prompt: Give me a complete accessibility report for this scan.

If you need a customized report with additional details, you can request.

  1. Report Formats A11yNow MCP can generate reports in multiple formats.

Example Report:

  • Save the report as PDF.
  • Save the report as HTML.
  • Save the report as Markdown.
  • Save the report as Excel.

Example prompt: Give me all the failed issues in PDF, Excel, HTML, and Markdown formats.

Detailed reports may consume additional AI tokens, particularly for large scans.

  1. Ask A11y Advice

    Use Ask A11y Advice when you need accessibility guidance.

Example Prompts:

  1. Give me guidance for creating an accessible tooltip component.
  2. Advise me on how to fix the failed accessibility issues from the latest scan.
  3. Get a Suggested Fix - When a scan identifies a specific issue, A11yNow can provide remediation guidance and suggested fixes.

Example Prompt:

  • Suggest a fix for the missing alt text issue
  • Give me the corrected HTML for this missing form label issue
  • Provide a corrected version of this heading structure
  • Suggest a fix for this component’s accessibility issue
  1. Generate a WCAG Conformance Report A11yNow can summarize scan results at the WCAG Success Criterion level and provide a conformance overview.

Example prompts:

  • Generate a WCAG conformance report.
  • Generate a WCAG 2.2 conformance summary based on this scan.
  • Show me the accessibility results grouped by WCAG Success Criterion.

A conformance report can be useful for:

  • Accessibility documentation
  • Accessibility audits
  • Compliance reviews
  1. Compare Accessibility Scans After fixing accessibility issues, run a new scan and compare it with the previous scan.

Example prompt: Compare today's scan with the previous scan and show me the differences. A scan comparison can identify:

  • Fixed issues
  • Remaining issues
  • Newly introduced issues
  • Regressions
  • Changes in accessibility results

Example Prompt: Compare the before-and-after scans and show me the issues that were fixed, introduced, or remain unresolved. This feature is especially useful for validating accessibility fixes and tracking accessibility improvements over time.
