Setting up A11yInspect for Microsoft Edge
BarrierBreak A11yInspect is a Microsoft Edge extension that helps users conduct accessibility checks on webpages.
Install BarrierBreak A11yInspect
- Open A11yInspect on the Microsoft Edge Add-ons Store.
- Select Get.
- When prompted, select Add extension.
Pin BarrierBreak A11yInspect to the Microsoft Edge toolbar
- In Microsoft Edge, select the Extensions button on the toolbar.
- Select the Pin icon next to BarrierBreak A11yInspect.
- The BarrierBreak A11yInspect icon appears in the Microsoft Edge toolbar.
Open Inspect
Open Inspect to run tests using A11yInspect.
- Windows/Linux: Ctrl + Shift + C or F12
- macOS: Cmd + Opt + C
You can also right-click on the page and select Inspect.
Steps to Run a Test
- Open the webpage you want to test.
- Right-click the page and select Inspect.
- Under the Elements panel, select the A11yInspect tab next to Styles.

- If the A11yInspect tab is not visible, select the More tabs (») option to locate it.
- If it is still missing, see Unable to View A11yInspect Tab in Inspect.
- Choose the Element Type and Guideline.
- Select Test Now.
- The test results are displayed.
- After making changes, select Refresh to rerun the test.

Steps to Use A11yInspect Bookmarklets
- Open the webpage you want to test.
- Select the BarrierBreak A11yInspect extension in the browser toolbar.
- Select one or more bookmarklets based on your testing needs (for example, Headings, Links, or Images).
- View the accessibility information displayed on the page.
