Overall Report Mode

The Overall Mode provides a complete, high-level summary of all accessibility issues identified within a project.
It unifies findings from automated scans and manual validations into one structured table, helping teams quickly understand the project’s accessibility health, identify priorities, and plan remediation efforts.
Overall Mode acts as the project’s accessibility overview, offering a clear picture of how many issues exist, where they occur, and how they relate to WCAG guidelines.

Purpose of Overall Mode

Overall Mode is designed to give users:

  • A project-wide snapshot of accessibility issues
  • A clear understanding of distribution across severity, WCAG principles, and impacted components
  • Insights into recurring patterns across multiple pages
  • A reliable foundation for remediation planning and progress tracking
  • A starting point before diving into detailed views (List, Group, Code Mode)

It serves both strategic and operational needs by combining breadth of information with clarity.

Report Table Structure in Overall Mode

The main table in Overall Mode displays each accessibility issue with key attributes:

1. Issue

A clear, concise description of the accessibility problem.

2. Applicable Pages

Indicates how many pages contain this issue.
Higher counts often signal component‑level or template‑level problems.

3. Issue Count

Total number of occurrences across the project.

4. Element

Shows the UI element where the issue appears, such as:
Forms, Landmarks, Page Titles, Keyboard interactions, ARIA components, etc.

5. Type

Three categories:

  • Validate
  • Suggestion
  • Fail

6. Principle

Maps the issue to the WCAG principles:
Perceivable, Operable, Understandable, Robust.

7. Success Criteria

Lists the WCAG Success Criteria (e.g., 1.3.1, 2.4.2, 4.1.2).

8. Severity

Indicates seriousness:
Major, Minor, Critical, Blocker, Best Practice.

9. Level

WCAG conformance level associated with the issue.

This structured presentation ensures clarity and supports informed decision making.

Why Overall Mode Matters

Overall Mode plays a critical role by:

  • Offering the most complete view of project‑wide accessibility problems
  • Highlighting patterns and repeated issues
  • Helping teams prioritize fixes based on severity, scope, and WCAG compliance
  • Supporting reporting and communication with stakeholders
  • Acting as the first step before deeper analysis in other modes

It ensures both technical and non‑technical users can understand the project’s accessibility status at a glance.
